The National Weather Service is reporting that a Winter Storm Warning remains active for counties in the Western Finger Lakes. Those counties in the Central and Eastern Finger Lakes remain in a Winter Weather Advisory. The Winter Storm Warning will expire at 2 pm and includes: Ontario, Monroe, Livingston, and the rest of the Western Finger Lakes. The National Weather Service says that between 6 and 9 inches of snow should be expected as this fast moving system brings steady, and at times, heavy snow to the entire region. Visibility will be as low as a quarter of a mile at times during the heaviest snowfall during the overnight hours — making the morning commute a challenge. In addition, the wet snow could cause minor power outages, and take down small limbs — as trees have begun gaining vegetation. A Winter Weather Advisory, which expires at 11 am and includes: Cayuga, Cortland, Onondaga, Tompkins, Schuyler, Seneca, Yates, and Wayne counties as well. An additional 3 to 6 inches of snowfall is expected in the advised area, before the system moves off to the east — ending the risk for snowfall temporarily. The morning commute could be a challenge, and drivers are urged to exercise extra caution — allowing for extra travel time to work. The National Weather Service says drivers should be prepared for slippery roads, limited visibility, and quickly changing conditions.Local Weather Resources:— Western FLX— Eastern FLX— Thruway ConditionsReports on Social Media
