Two indicted on grand larceny charges in Ontario Co.

On Thursday a pair of South Carolinians were arrested on an indictment warrant, which was issued by the Ontario County Court. The indictment warrant was issued on March 3rd, and after nearly a month of searching — the two individuals were located and apprehended.The Ontario County Sheriff’s Office notes that a grand jury indicted Angela Evans, 33, of Adams Run, South Carolina, as well as Scott Hodges, 23, of the same location. The grand jury indicted the pair on one count of grand larceny in the third degree, one count of scheme to defraud in the first degree, 13 counts of falsifying business records in the first degree, and two counts of petit larceny.The charges stem from an investigation, which revealed that Evans and Hodges acted together by issuing a total of 13 bad checks totaling more than $12,000. The pair targeted two businesses in the Town of Hopewell and Geneva. The bad checks were written in December of 2014. Hodges was arrested on the warrant by Summerville Police Department in South Carolina after his vehicle was stopped at a DWI checkpoint on March 15th, according to the Ontario County Sheriff’s Office. Evans was then arrested by Charleston County Sheriff’s Office, in South Carolina when she was located at her residence.The Sheriff’s Office notes that the pair waived extradition and were transported from South Carolina to New York by investigators from the Ontario County Sheriff’s Office on March 31st. Both were arraigned on April 1st and remanded to the Ontario County Jail without bail.The New York State Police assisted in the investigation, according to the Ontario County Sheriff’s Office.
