The Ithaca Police Department reports that a search warrant was carried out Friday afternoon in the city, which led to the arrest of an Ithaca man for possessing and selling a controlled substance.Sargent John Norman reported that on Friday at 1:45 pm members of the Ithaca Police Department Special Investigations Unit was assisted by members of the Tompkins County Sheriff’s Department, and State Police Community Narcotics Enforcement team in carrying out a search warrant served at 618 West State Street, Apartment #2. As result of the search, Ian Neville, 46, of Ithaca was charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance in the third degree and criminal sale of a controlled substance in the third degree. Both are class B felonies under Penal Law of New York.Norman reports that items seized during the search included:-Prescription drugs packaged in a way that is consistent for sale.-An amount of heroin that was packaged in a way which is consistent for sale.-An amount of which exceeded $1,900. -Property which had been reported as stolen.-Materials that are typically used to package narcotics for sale.FingerLakes1.com will have more information on this story as details become available.
