On Tuesday, March 22nd Ontario County Sheriff’s Deputies arrested a Canandaigua woman for driving while ability impaired by drugs. Sheila Gibson, 49, of Canandaigua was arrested for driving while ability impaired by drugs. The charge stemmed from an incident on Route 21 in Hopewell. Gibson allegedly struck a mailbox and guard rail, and subsequently left the scene.A passerby reported Gibson after witnessing the vehicle strike the guard rail and mailbox. The witness also saw the vehicle operated by Gibson pull into a parking lot in Shortsville. The investigation revealed that Gibson was impaired by drugs and she was arrested and charged with those charges.Gibson was also charged with aggravated DWI for having a child in the car under the age of 16 and endangering the welfare of a child. She was issued traffic tickets for the DWI, aggravated unlicensed operation in the third, and leaving the scene of a property damage crash. She will appear in Hopewell Town Court at a later date to answer the charges.
