Village of Macedon to dissolve in 2017

Voters in Macedon had a lot to decide on Tuesday as they were faced with a decision regarding dissolution for the fourth time in recent memory. Incumbent Mayor Marie Cramer sought re-election on the Independent and Community First party lines, against challenger William Murray, who ran on the Republican and One Macedon party lines.The mayoral and dissolution race wasn’t the only contested race on the ticket Tuesday, either. Voters had to choose two trustees with three candidates vying for those open positions. Donald Lohse, Dave Sliney, and Theodore Bielowicz ran for the open seats. If dissolution was approved, it would also mean that Macedon would move toward dissolving in April of 2017.Results:Dissolution passed by more than 120 votes. There were 324 votes in favor of the dissolution plan and 187 against.This means the tentative dissolution date will be set for April 2017. William Murray won the race for mayor by an almost equal margin. Murray received 342 votes to incumbent Marie Cramer’s 167. The two available trustee seats were won by David Sliney and Don Lohse who received 327 and 235 votes respectively. Ted Bielowicz received 189 votes.
