NOZZOLIO APPOINTED CHAIRMAN OF SENATE JOINT BUDGET CONFERENCE SUBCOMMITTEE FOR PUBLIC PROTECTIONNew York State Senator Mike Nozzolio has been appointed to serve as the Senate Chairman of the Joint Budget Conference Subcommittee for Public Protection, Criminal Justice and the Judiciary. The Public Protection Budget Conference Committee is responsible for reviewing all aspects of the criminal justice budget, and budgets for Correctional Services, Military and Naval Affairs, the State Police, the Judiciary and Homeland Security.“It is an honor to be given the important responsibility of Senate Chairman for the Public Protection Budget Conference Committee,” said Senator Nozzolio. “One of our most important responsibilities is to ensure the protection of our citizens and I will work directly with the Assembly and Governor to guarantee our state fulfills its responsibility to protect our families, homes and communities.”“As Chairman of Public Protection, I will continue to support our State Police, Correctional Services, and all other aspects of our criminal justice system and homeland security,” continued Senator Nozzolio. “Additionally, I will work to ensure State government, including the Judiciary, remains accountable to the taxpayers of New York State, and there is no better way to do that than to deliver an on-time, fiscally responsible State budget that builds on the many successes we achieved over the last few years.”Senator Nozzolio serves as the Chairman of the New York State Senate Codes Committee and is on the Senate Finance Committee, which is responsible for all aspects of the State budget.Joint Budget Conference Committees are meeting this week to work towards delivering an on-time budget. The Public Protection Committee hearing will take place on Wednesday, March 16 at 1:00 pm in Hearing Room A of the Legislative Office Building.
