2 Ontario County inmates charged with grand larceny

On Monday the Ontario County Sheriff’s Office arrested 31 year old Randy L. Pickett and 34 year old Rahel M. Ayers, both inmates at the Ontario County Jail. Previously both had been arrested by the Canandaigua Police Department for stealing from an elderly individual.During this time period both Pickett and Ayers were receiving benefits from the Ontario County Department of Social Services and had failed to report income to their caseworkers. This resulted in Pickett receiving $2,996.29 more in SNAP benefits and medical assistance than he should have and Ayers receiving $10,061.14 more in temporary assistance and SNAP benefits than she should have.Pickett was arrested for grand larceny in the 4th degree. He was arraigned in the Canandaigua City Court and committed to the Ontario County Jail in lieu of $2500 cash bail.Ayers was arrested for grand larceny in the 3rd degree and also arraigned in the Canandaigua City Court and committed to the Ontario County Jail in lieu of $1250 cash bail.Both will reappear at a later date to answer to those charges.
