The National Weather Service in Buffalo has issued a Winter Weather Advisory for most of the Northern Finger Lakes, as a system tracks through the area — bringing a mix of wintry weather and rain to the region.The Winter Weather Advisory begins at 4 pm Tuesday and runs through 1 pm on Wednesday for Northern Cayuga, and Wayne Counties.

The advisory from the National Weather Service reads in part:* LOCATIONS…WAYNE AND NORTHERN CAYUGA COUNTIES.* TIMING…FROM LATE THIS AFTERNOON THROUGH EARLY WEDNESDAY AFTERNOON.* HAZARDS…SNOW AND FREEZING RAIN.* ACCUMULATIONS…SNOW ACCUMULATING 1 TO 2 INCHES. ICE ACCUMULATING A FEW HUNDREDTHS OF AN INCH.* WINDS…NORTHWEST 20 TO 30 MPH WITH GUSTS UP TO 40 MPH.* IMPACTS…SNOW AND ICE ACCUMULATION WILL RESULT IN SLIPPERY ROAD CONDITIONS…MAKING TRAVEL HAZARDOUS.While this is not expected to be a major snow maker — it still could spawn some tricky travel throughout the Finger Lakes. Drivers are urged to use caution when traveling through the advised areas and to plan ahead for lengthier commutes.
