Two dead after Sunday AM shooting in downtown Geneva

Two people are dead after an apparent murder/suicide in downtown Geneva that occurred just before noon.On Sunday, February 21st at approximately 11:45 am, the Geneva Police Department received several calls of a shooting that had just occurred on Exchange Street in the area of the Exchange Place lot. Officers arrived at the location and observed two individuals with gunshot wounds. One of the individuals had already deceased when officers arrived on the scene. Geneva Police immediately started CPR on the individual that was alive until emergency personnel responded and transported the victim to the Geneva General Hospital. The second individual was pronounced dead at the hospital.Police say investigation is in the very early stages and several witnesses are being interviewed. The preliminary investigation has determined that this is a murder/suicide. A weapon was located at the scene and the department is not looking for any further suspects. They urge that there is no danger to the public or community.Detectives have identified the two deceased subjects whose names are currently being withheld pending notification of family. However, witnesses at the scene reported that a boyfriend-girlfriend dispute was happening in the parking lot on Exchange Street when the male pulled out a gun and fired at least one shot into the abdomen of the female. At that point, he then turned the gun on himself. Witnesses are also suggesting that the name of the female victim was Emily Carson.The Geneva Police Department are being assisted by the Ontario County Sheriff’s Office and the New York State Police.
