Rt. 96 accident in Farmington sends one to hospital

On Tuesday, February 9th at approximately 10:05 am Ontario County Sheriff’s Deputies and New York State Troopers were called to a motor vehicle accident on Route 96 in Farmington in front of McDonald’s. When authorities arrived on the scene they discovered that a 2011 GMC pickup truck, operated by Leonard Maracle, 66, of Rochester exited McDonald’s into the path of a westbound Caravan, operated by Nathan Heckler, 29, of Canandaigua.An unrestrained back seat passenger in the Caravan, Dovie Gavette, 24, of Canandaigua, struck her head during the collision. However, she opted to go to Thompson Hospital by private vehicle after being evaluated by Victor-Farmington Ambulance. Both operators of the vehicles were wearing their seat belts and were not injured during the accident. All other individuals involved were properly secured in the vehicles, which included an 11-month-old child, who was uninjured in the accident.Maracle was ticketed for failing to yield the right of way and will answer the charge in Farmington Town Court at a later date.When authorities arrived on seen they found the victims in the accident were being assisted by a good samaritan, who had stopped to assist with those involved in the accident before authorities arrived.
