Newark wins 3rd straight East title

The Newark Reds held the Wayne Eagles to just 18 points in the second half on Senior Night in Newark en route to a 42-29 victory which secured the school’s third straight Finger Lakes East league championship. The Reds entered the last night of the regular season with a one-game lead over the Mynderse Blue Devils who defeated Penn Yan, 53-41.Also on Tuesday night, Naples protected their one-game lead in the Finger Lakes West with a 53-42 win over South Seneca while Bloomfield and Dundee kept pace with wins. Naples will travel to Bloomfield on Thursday night on the final night of play in the West and the final day of the regular season in all of Section V basketball. If Bloomfield wins, there would be a three-way tie for the league title with Bloomfield, Naples and Marcus Whitman (if the Wildcats beat Red Jacket on Thursday night). If Naples wins, it would be back-to-back outright Finger Lakes West championships for Mick Salter’s Big Green.Full results, updated standings and more below…W-FL BOYS TUESDAY SCOREBOARDGeneva 56, Waterloo 44 GEN (6-13) Marquan Ross 16 (4-3pt), 5 reb; Noah Barber 13; Tyler Tyson 12, 9 rebWAT (5-15) Nick Stenberg 13, 7 reb; Ben Deming 10, 8 rebMynderse 53, Penn Yan 41 MYN (16-4) Brett Anderson 16; Ben Cafolla 11; Kellen Caraher 11PY (11-8) Dylan Stape 14Palmyra-Macedon 77, Midlakes 71 PM (13-7) Holden Knorr 26 (7-3pt); Brandon Hawkins 20MID (11-9) Bryce Burri 23; Ken DeVey 12Wayne 29, Newark 42 WYN (9-11)NEW (13-6) Jose Santell 22, 3 ast, 3 stl* Newark held Wayne to 7 2nd half pointsBloomfield 72, Romulus 53 BLM (12-7) Wyatt Conklin 16; Haiden Ward 17ROM (3-16) – Kyle Bennett 24, 6 reb; Bragon Passamonte 11Dundee 60, Honeoye 54 DUN (13-6) Bobby Strait 26HON (9-10) Jake Soliday 16HAC 28, Red Jacket 58 HAC (0-19) Luke Nicosia 11, 11 rebRJK (9-10) Jared Henry 14; Daniel Munn 14 (4-3pt)South Seneca 42, Naples 53 SS (6-13)NAP (15-4)W-FL GIRLS TUESDAY SCOREBOARDClyde 43, Lyons 46Red Creek 20, Gananda 62North Rose-Wolcott 33, Marion 52Williamson 39, East Rochester 58W-FL BOYS BASKETBALL STANDINGSFINGER LAKES EAST01 — 12-2 / 13-6 Newark Reds02 — 11-3 / 16-4 Mynderse Blue Devils03 — 10-4 / 13-7 Pal-Mac Red Raiders04 — 7-7 / 11-8 Penn Yan MustangsT5 — 5-9 / 11-9 Midlakes Screaming EaglesT5 — 5-9 / 6-13 Geneva PanthersT5 — 5-9 / 9-11 Wayne Eagles08 — 1-13 / 5-15 Waterloo Indians FINGER LAKES WEST01 — 13-2 / 15-4 Naples Big GreenT2 — 12-3 / 12-5 Marcus Whitman WildcatsT2 — 12-3 / 12-7 Bloomfield Bombers04 — 12-4 / 13-6 Dundee Scots05 — 7-8 / 8-10 Red Jacket Indians06 — 6-9 / 9-10 Honeoye Bulldogs07 — 5-10 / 6-13 South Seneca Falcons08 — 1-14 / 3-16 Romulus Warriors09 — 0-14 / 0-19 H.A.C.
