Waterloo Police, Waterloo Fire Dept and Border City Fire Dept responded to a reported structure fire at 41 W. River St at 2:00 pm on Monday. A small fire was found to have started on an outside porch due to a discardedcigarette, causing minor exterior damage to the outside of the residence.The residents of the apartment were not home at the time and the fire was discovered by the Village of Waterloo Water Department as they stopped to read the water meter.The tenants were not displaced due to the fire and the property was fully insured by the owner.
