Vehicle strikes bicyclist in Geneva

First responders were called to an accident on Wednesday afternoon involving a vehicle operated by a Rochester man, and a bicyclist from Geneva at 2:08 pm. The accident occurred in Geneva, at the corner of County Road 6 and Route 5. Kenneth Yeager, 59, of Rochester was traveling south on County Road 6 and was attempting to make a right turn onto Route 5 at a green light when Shawn Price, 47, of Geneva drove his bike in front of Yeager’s vehicle. The vehicle struck Price, knocking him to the pavement. The bicyclist was not wearing a helmet and was transported by helicopter to Strong Memorial Hospital. He suffered leg and pelvic injuries but has since been released from Strong Memorial Hospital. Authorities determined that Price, the bicyclist was at fault, but no citations had been issued at this time. Traffic was backed up in the area for a short period of time following the accident and was reported shortly after 2:00 pm. Agencies assisting at the scene included the White Springs Fire Department, Finger Lakes Ambulance, Geneva Police, and the New York State Police.
