SC announces STOP DWI crackdown for Super Bowl

On Tuesday, the Seneca County Sheriff’s Office announced a STOP-DWI Crackdown effort, which would begin on February 5th and run until February 8th. The timing of the effort will coincide with the Super Bowl, increased traffic on roadways, and a statistical increase in instances of DWI’s. The Seneca County Sheriff’s Office said in part, “The Super Bowl is America’s most watched national sporting event and Super Bowl Weekend is historically a deadly period for impaired driving. New York State Police, County Sheriffs and municipal law enforcement agencies will collaborate across the state and will be out in force in this coordinated effort to reduce the number of alcohol related injuries and deaths.”Officials urge residents to make a difference by having a plan to avoid drinking and driving.
