Clyde fire destroys 2 apartments, leaves 8 homeless

An apartment complex on Glasgow Street was the scene of a fire early Monday morning, which resulted in two apartments being destroyed, and eight people being left homeless. The Clyde Fire Department called in 10 fire companies to assist with the blaze that destroyed the roof of the structure, in addition to the two apartments considered a total loss.First responders said that it took approximately an hour to get the blaze under control when they first arrived. The building that caught fire was connected to several other apartments, and according to first responders the potential for this fire to be much worse was significant.The third floor of the building was where most of the damage occurred. This is where the two apartments were that were called a total loss. The second and first floor saw partial fire, smoke, and significant water damage from fighting the blaze.The cause of the fire remains under investigation this morning and Wayne County Sheriff’s Office says that there were no reported injuries at the scene of the Glasgow Street fire.Stay tuned to FingerLakes1.com for the latest updates on this story and much more.
