Arc of Seneca Cayuga announced today that they had received a few late Christmas gifts this year! $5,000 from the Christopher and Dana Reeves Foundation will be used to purchase video equipment for the agency’s F.A.M.E. program. Participants will be able to produce their own videos for You Tube and for local television stations. F.A.M.E. is the performing arts program of Arc and provides opportunities for personal growth through self-expression in the creative arts for people with developmental and other intellectual disabilities. Classes are offered in Voice, Dance, Acting, Video Production, and the Visual Arts including painting and sculpture. The Stanley W. Metcalf and the D. E. French Foundations have each awarded $2,500 for the agency’s Clinic to purchase needed physical therapy equipment. This equipment is specifically designed to assist people to either regain or improve their physical abilities. By minimizing physical impairment, disability-related congenital and acquired conditions, and functional limitations, the equipment will enable people to live more active and productive lives so they can be involved in their communityEnterprise Holdings Foundation has awarded Arc $1,500 to help address the shortage of services for children who have autism and who reside in the Finger Lakes region. These services will include (but are not limited to) local diagnostic testing at an early age, customized behavioral intervention for the family and ongoing individualized support from clinical staff to ensure family stability. This caps a year in which Arc of Seneca Cayuga received new grants of more than $150,000 to assist in its mission of providing opportunities and choices for treatment, employment, education, recreation, and community living to assist individuals with disabilities to realize a productive and fulfilling life.
