Geneva Light Opera to hold January auditions

Geneva Light Opera will hold auditions January 12th through 15th in Geneva for covers, selected principal roles, and choristers for Johann Strauss’s popular operetta “Die Fledermaus” which will be fully staged and sung in English on July 21, 23, and 24 at the historic Smith Opera House. Luckily things are resolved by the final chorus as all join in song to honor champagne. Filled with colorful polkas, drinking songs, and waltzes, “Die Fledermaus” is a Viennese operetta masterpiece Geneva Light Opera aims to promote a better understanding and appreciation for opera and the historic Smith Opera House with its superb acoustics. Its goal is to inspire and educate audiences of all ages while providing a live experience of the many pleasures of opera that is both entertaining and affordable. By keeping admission fees low — and free for children — and spotlighting the wit and humor of great works, it provides a positive exposure to opera. GLO hopes to build a far-reaching reputation that will make this community a destination point for live opera audiences.
