NR-W beats ER to take lead in Wayne County

The mood inside the gymnasium at North Rose-Wolcott high was electric on Wednesday night in anticipation of a battle of unbeatens as league foe East Rochester was in town. In a fast paced game it was ER who built a 4 point halftime lead thanks to three late three-pointers from Chevez Gaines. The NR-W Cougars would regroup at halftime and held East Rochester to just 14 second half point en route to a 63-45 win in front of a raucous home crowd. The win gives NR-Wolcott sole possession of first place in Wayne County. They also stand as the only remaining unbeaten team in the Wayne-Finger Lakes after Naples nipped Dundee on Tuesday night to hand the Scots their first loss.- Watch the full replay of East Rochester vs. NR-Wolcott on FL1 Sports GametapeWednesday Night W-FL Boys ScoreboardEast Rochester 45, NR-Wolcott 63 (FL1 Sports Gametape)ER (6-1) Chevez Gaines 16; Keith Butler 12; Casey Michele 11NRW (8-0) Garrett Hoyt 17, 10 reb; Luke Gerstner 16, 7 reb; Tyler Norris 15 Red Creek 71, Marion 34 RCK (5-3) Nick Klein 22; Noah Fisher 12; Anthony Maurizio 10MRN (0-6) Rodney DeLyser 15Sodus 54, Clyde-Savannah 71 SOD (4-4) Kam Davis 15; Kenny Kommer 14CS (4-3) Jarrod Faniel 16, 14 reb, 5 ast; Derrick Chance 13; Drew Carnevale 10Also, in case you missed it… last night’s Bloomfield vs. Red Jacket game was broadcast live by “The Spazman” on Finger Lakes Online Radio.WEDNESDAY NIGHT W-FL GIRLS SCOREBOARDMercy 58, Newark 37Pal-Mac 52, Waterloo 48East Rochester at Red Creek (no report)Mynderse at South Seneca (no report)W-FL BOYS BASKETBALL STANDINGSHere are the standings through Wednesday night heading into Christmas break…FINGER LAKES EASTT1 — 4-1 / 7-1 Mynderse Blue DevilsT1 — 4-1 / 6-2 Pal-Mac Red RaidersT1 — 4-1 / 4-3 Newark Reds04 — 3-2 / 4-3 Penn Yan MustangsT5 — 2-3 / 4-3 Midlakes Screaming EaglesT5 — 2-3 / 4-3 Wayne Eagles07 — 1-4 / 1-7 Geneva Panthers08 — 0-5 / 1-6 Waterloo Indians FINGER LAKES WEST01 — 6-1 / 7-1 Dundee ScotsT2 — 5-1 / 7-1 Naples Big GreenT2 — 5-1 / 5-3 Bloomfield BombersT4 — 4-3 / 4-4 Red Jacket IndiansT4 — 4-3 / 4-3 Marcus Whitman Wildcats06 — 3-3 / 4-3 Honeoye Bulldogs07 — 2-4 / 2-6 South Seneca FalconsT8 — 0-6 / 0-8 Romulus WarriorsT8 — 0-6 / 0-6 H.A.C.
