Seneca County Sheriff’s Office reports, on Tuesday night at approximately 5:33 pm, Sheriff’s Deputies responded to County Road 129 and State Route 96 in the Town of Ovid for a two car personal injury motor vehicle accident.A van, operated by Remy Babineaux, age 52 of 7518 Rock River Road in Ovid, was traveling northbound on County Road 129 when Babineaux failed to stop at a stop sign at the intersection of State Route 96. Babineaux’s vehicle was struck by a southbound sedan, traveling on State Route 96, operated by Kaitlin L. Tharp, age 24 of 700 Warren Road in Ithaca. Babineaux sustained face and head injuries and was transported by South Seneca Ambulance to Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester.Tharp complained of leg pain and was transported to Cayuga Medical Center by Trumansburg Ambulance.Ovid and Romulus Fire Departments assisted at the scene.Both vehicles sustained heavy damage and were towed from the scene. Sheriff’s Deputies state the investigation is continuing.
