Geneva police make arrest in 2014 assault case

Robert D. Lewis, age 53 of Geneva, was wanted for assault in the first degree, a class B felony. for an incident occurred on May 1, 2014 at approximately 10:15 pm at the Geneva Courtyard Apartments. During the assault, a victim was struck multiple times with a metal bar in the head causing a skull fracture. The suspect fled the scene upon arrival of the Geneva Police Department.The victim was admitted and treated at Strong Memorial Hospital and released several days later.With the help of the NYS Violent Felony Warrant Squad our of Rochester, New York Robert D. Lewis was located and arrested in Detroit, Michigan in October and was being held in Wayne County Jail in Detroit, Michigan while extradition proceedings have been underway.On Tuesday, after 19 months on the run, the subject was transported by Geneva Police Department from Detroit, Michigan to Geneva City Court where he was arraigned on assault in the first degree charges and held without bail. The subject will reappear in Geneva City Court on 12/17/2015 at 9 am.
