On Tuesday the Penn Yan Police Department was dispatched to the area of Liberty Street for a reported intoxicated driver complaint.At 10:26 pm an Officer attempted to pull over a suspect vehicle on Lake Street, but the driver failed to stop and drove behind the Lake Street Car Wash, where the driver fled on foot. A passenger, later identified as Mark Howell of Tawanda PA, was detained but later released after being cited for consuming alcohol inside a vehicle.Penn Yan Officers where assisted at the scene by Yates County Sheriff’s Department and the New York State Police. A K-9 unit was called in for the search but was unable to find the suspect. Then at 12:18 am the suspect was stopped in McDonald’s parking lot by a Yates County Sergeant, where he was identified as Christopher S. Pozzi, age 35 of Aikens Road in Watkins Glen.Pozzi was charged with DWI, Felony AUO in the 1st, Obstruction of Governmental Administration, and other vehicle and traffic violations. He was taken to the Yates County Jail and held for arraignment on Wednesday.
