TST students forming winning recipe

By mixing together hard work, dedication, and a little fun, students in Sara Falco’s Food Services class at Tompkins-Seneca-Tioga are beginning to form a winning recipe for success.Utilizing a state-of-the-art classroom kitchen, students in the program recently prepared more than a dozen pizzas for a sale. The Food Services class, which is part of TST’s World of Work program, focuses on introductory food preparation skills, nutrition, and team work.Students in TST’s Food Services class recently showcased their food preparation skills during a pizza sale. Pictured from left, students Kamar Skinner, Rock Fuller, and Cordell Reimer are all smiles after preparing the pizzas.“This program really helps to create real-life work experience,” said teacher Falco. “They make all the pizza from scratch, and we always end up selling out.” According to Falco, the program places an emphasis on nutrition and only utilizes healthy alternative ingredients, such whole wheat flour and low fat cheese.
