Schuyler County Public Health Department will hold a public Flu clinic on December 8th from 11 am-1 pm at the Mill Creek Center in Watkins Glen. We ask the public who can to pre-register by going to http://www.health.ny.gov/go2clinic, but preregistration is not required to attend this clinic. Public Health Director Marcia Kasprzyk points out the flu season peaks December thru February and the flu vaccination can reduce flu illness, doctor office visits, missed work and helps prevent flu-related hospitalizations and death. As long as flu viruses are spreading, it’s not too late to get a vaccine to protect yourself and your loved ones.National Influenza Vaccination Week (NIVW) Dec 6-12 is a time to remember of the importance of flu vaccination for everyone six months and up, including pregnant women. The flu vaccine is the best way modern medicine has to protect against this potentially serious disease. Peak flu season starts the same time people start gathering together for holiday celebrations and exposing many. As long as flu viruses are circulating, it is not too late to be vaccinated.Visit the Schuyler County Public Health website at www.schuylercounty.us/publichealth for information on current sites to obtain a flu vaccination and more information on ways to prevent the spread of flu.
