Sheriff David Gould reports that on Thursday, at approximately 10 pm, members of the Cayuga County Sheriff’s Office and New York State Police responded to the area of Haiti Road in the Town of Mentz for a reported armed robbery. The victims reported that a single masked intruder had just come into their home armed with what appeared to be a handgun and demanded property. One of the victims was injured during a struggle with the intruder and was transported to Auburn Community Hospital for treatment of non- life threatening injuries by Port Byron Ambulance. Witnesses in the area reported seeing a pickup truck fleeing the area at the time of this incident. They described it as a dark colored Chevy or GMC extended cab pickup truck with larger tires and a loud exhaust.
