GNRC to honor 3 Awardees at Annual Dinner

‘- The Geneva Neighborhood Resource Center will be honoring two distinguished leaders and one neighborhood association during the 6th Annual Awards Dinner on Thursday, October 29, at 5:30 p.m.Over the course of 2015, there were significant highlights achieved by residents, driving their neighborhoods to be more welcoming, appealing and family-oriented. In the first ten months, over 200 neighborhood association meetings, events and project work parties involving 1000 resident volunteers and 2850 resident participants equated to over 2500 volunteer hours of dedication. That doesn’t include the many thousands of hours of fun that over 3000 residents and visitors enjoyed while attending one or more of several social events and engaging family friendly activities. Dozens of resident volunteers attended one or more of the sessions for the GNRC’s Engaged Resident Series including which included topics such as Problem Properties, Feral Cat Colonies (Trap, Neuter, Return), Taxes and Assessment and Community Gardens. Engaged residents were active in community partnerships including HWS Campus/Community Relations, Geneva 2020, HWS CCESL Day of Service (one per semester), Geneva Community Center, Two Herons Drum Circle and the Little Free Library project.Currently, the GNRC provides support and resources to all eleven active neighborhood associations, volunteers, projects and activities that take place in the City of Geneva. In 2015, the Historic South sign toppers were installed, along with the gateway sign for Western Gardens. The GNRC also distributed a total of $4750 in Neighborhood Assistance Program grants to assist with projects improving the quality of life in each neighborhood. The dinner will be held at the Sons of Italy at 31 Prospect Drive. Tickets are $7.50 per adult, and $5 for children under the age of twelve.
