Waterloo woman arrested after running from cops

The Seneca County Sheriffs Office reports that on the October 4th around 11:58 pm Sheriffs Deputies arrested Cherie E. Smith, 26 of 117 East Elisha Street in Waterloo. The arrest stems from a traffic stop that occurred on North Road in the Town of Waterloo around 11:42 pm on the 4th of October. Deputies initiated a traffic stop for an equipment violation. During the investigation, deputies learned that Smith provided a false name to avoid being arrested on a warrant out of Monroe County. Smith then attempted to flee on foot and was taken into custody after a brief foot pursuit. Smith was in possession of crack-cocaine, marijuana, and other drug paraphernalia. Smith has been charged with Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the 7th Degree, Criminal Impersonation in the 2nd Degree, Resisting Arrest, Obstruction of Governmental Administration, Unlawful Possession of Marijuana, and loud/inadequate muffler. Smith was arraigned in the Town o f Waterloo Court where she was remanded to the custody of the Seneca County Correctional Facility on $1000 cash bail, $2000 bail bond. Smith is to re-appear on the 12th of November at 4:00 pm. Seneca County Sheriffs Office was assisted by Waterloo PD.
