Although the organization is affiliated with the larger state and national networks, all fundraising efforts, resources and policy decisions are made at the local level by a leadership team comprised of community residents. The full-time staff of four oversees much of the work and relies on a large volunteer base to execute their annual campaign.Efforts are already underway to support this year’s fall campaign dubbed “Neighbor to Neighbor,” with a total fundraising goal of $370,000. Committee chairs Robert and Mary Ellen Kernan are spearheading the campaign that features several events including a fundraiser at Dewey’s Party House on September 22nd and a seminar on September 29th at the New York Chiropractic College on Social Media Pluses & Pitfalls. To learn more about the United Way of Seneca County or how you can volunteer, please visit http://www.uwseneca.org/ or call (315) 539-1135.
