Chamber honors Seneca Co. United Way

The Seneca County Chamber of Commerce and Hampton Inn Seneca Falls are pleased to announce the United Way of Seneca County as the September Business of the Month. “The United Way of Seneca County plays an instrumental role in the health and well being of our community,” said Chamber President Jeff Shipley. “We applaud the efforts of their dedicated staff and volunteers in carrying out a mission that annually impacts one out of every four people in our county.”Pictured from left to right – Derek Dyson, Mark Benjamin (Chamber Board Chair), Bob McKeveny, Jerry Macaluso (Vice President of United Way Board), Karen Macier (Executive Director for the United Way of Seneca County), Mary McDonald, Tim Hopkins, Kelly Woodworth (General Manager, Hampton Inn Seneca Falls), Jan Driscoll, Bob Kernan and Gene Pierce (Chamber Board Member).Founded in 1958 as the “Seneca County United Fund,” the organization has a long history of service to the local community. It has become a leading catalyst for mobilizing the “caring power” of the local community by leveraging financial and volunteer support to provide a host of programs and services related to education, financial stability and healthy living. Although the organization is affiliated with the larger state and national networks, all fundraising efforts, resources and policy decisions are made at the local level by a leadership team comprised of community residents. The full-time staff of four oversees much of the work and relies on a large volunteer base to execute their annual campaign.Efforts are already underway to support this year’s fall campaign dubbed “Neighbor to Neighbor,” with a total fundraising goal of $370,000.
