SC Players announces cast of “Dead Metaphor”

Seneca Community Players announces the cast for its upcoming production of “Dead Metaphor,” George F. Walker’s lively, dark comedy that takes no prisoners. “Dead Metaphor” takes aim at corrupt politicians, hypocritical religious leaders and the apathetic public at large in a savagely funny deconstruction of post-9/11 society. It evokes a callous world where everyone celebrates war heroes but no one gives them a job. When Dean returns home from the war in the Middle East and hits the job market, he discovers that his superior military skills don’t get him very far in the business world. His readjustment to non-bunker life begins by moving in with his aging parents and pregnant ex-(and soon-to-be current) wife. When he is offered a job as poster boy for a crusading politician on her own mission for ‘truth and justice,’ his military ethics collide with the unscrupulous world of national political campaigns – and he discovers that his unique skill set may be his best asset after all.”Dead Metaphor” features Michael Jansen of Clifton Springs in the role of Dean Trusk, the returning soldier; Steve Mitchell of Geneva as Hank Trusk, Dean’s father; Amy Babiarz of Waterloo as Jenny Trusk, Dean’s ex-wife; and Susan Sinicropi of Seneca Falls as Frannie Trusk, Dean’s mother. They are joined by Deborah Bly of Romulus and Lorne Fancett of Geneva in the roles of Helen Denny, the political extremist, and her more mild-tempered husband, Oliver.”Dead Metaphor” is directed by Becky Bly of Seneca Falls. An experienced, award-winning director, Bly has drawn together a top-notch staff and crew to assist her in bringing this fearless satire to local audiences: Donna Russell and Deb Bly, producers; Rhonda Pollino, stage manager; Bobby-Jo Bly-Owens, assistant stage manager; Stephen Beals, sound design; Jane Roberts, props; Tom Sandroni, master carpenter and scenic charge artist; Kevin Schoonover, publicity and poster design; KC Mooneyhan, program; Lynn Patti, Head of House.”Dead Metaphor” will be staged in the Delavan Theater at the New York Chiropractic College in Seneca Falls, September 25, 26, 27 and October 2, 3 and 4.
