The Geneva Area Chamber of Commerce is excited to announce the addition of a new fall event; the 2015 Women in Business Honoree Reception. This unique event extends the opportunity to showcase women in the workplace by honoring their contributions across the many sectors of our business community. Individuals selected by Chamber and community members will each be featured at the Honoree Reception, celebrating the career highlights, accolades and achievements within the women’s respective field or profession. The event will be held on Thursday, October 22, at Ventosa Vineyards from 6-9 pm.The Women in Business Reception will replace former Chamber-sponsored events that awarded a single individual per year, based on pre-selected criteria and guidelines. The new event will feature the achievements of women across manyindustries and categories, including: agriculture, athletics, banking/finance, education/higher education, engineering, entrepreneurship, government, healthcare, human services, industrial advancements; mentoring, not-for-profits, science, the arts, tourism & hospitality, and young professionals.”The main purpose that the committee sees for the 2015 Honoree Reception will be to serve as the kickoff event for showcasing women in both our personal and professional lives, while featuring their contributions and achievements within the many fields that make up our membership and community base,” explained Mary Luckern, Board Member for the Chamber and Chairwoman of the Event’s Planning Committee. “This event expands upon previous award programs, with a format that now allows for a greater variety of industries and individuals to be acknowledged and honored,” she added.Employers and colleagues are encouraged to nominate staff or former employees. Families and friends of individuals are encouraged to honor those that may be celebrating a career milestone or entering into retirement. The honors can bejoint or co-sponsored between more than one individual or business, and can also be anonymous. Honorees will be announced through local media outlets leading up to the Reception. The format for the event will be a social reception with grazing hors’douevres, desserts and a featured honoree toast. Replacing individual speeches, the Reception’s key component will be the showcase of Honoree Celebration Stations, which will be displayed along the perimeter of the event and will feature personalized spaces for the honorees and their sponsors or guests to exhibit personal achievements and professional highlights.”We are pleased to present this new event, and excited for its format as it will encourage mingling and one-on-one interactions. ” said Miranda Odell, the Chamber’s Executive Director. “Event attendees can visit each of the honorees at their stations while having the opportunity to personally congratulate them and form new connections and relationships,” she added. “This is a key component of what a Chamber of Commerce offers. We’re here to assist with those connections and interactions by providing opportunities for exposure and communication- resulting in better awareness for both our Chamber members and community partners.”Three areas of involvement are currently available for the event including Event Sponsorship, Honoree Sponsorship and Event Tickets. Honoree submissions will be received until October 2. Advanced reservations will be accepted until October 9. The event is open to the public, with discounted rates available for Chamber members.
