The City of Geneva will be hosting the annual 911 Remembrance Ceremony will take place at Long Pier, Lakefront Park, Geneva on Friday September 11, 2015 at 10:00 am.Guest speakers include: Senator Michael Nozzolio, Assemblyman Brian Kolb and a letter read from Congressman Tom Reed.During this time City of Geneva offices will be closed from 9:45-10:45 am. The public is invited and encouraged to attend! – Proclamation -WHEREAS, Fourteen years ago today, a bright autumn day was darkened by the worst attack on theAmerican people in our history. Thousands of innocent men, women, and children perished when mightytowers collapsed in the heart of New York City and wreckage burned in Pennsylvania and at the Pentagon;andWHEREAS, On September 11, 2001, amid shattered glass, twisted steel, and clouds of dust, the spirit ofAmerica shone through. We remember the sacrifice of strangers and first responders who rushed intodarkness to carry others from danger; andWHEREAS, Today and forever, those who made the ultimate sacrifice will be remembered in the history ofour Nation. As we mark another anniversary of that tragic day and we remember the sacrifices of thosewho rose in service during the rescue and recovery efforts; andWHEREAS, may we join in serving causes greater than ourselves and honoring those we lost, to sendreminders of the ways that the victims of 9/11 live on — in the people they loved, the lives they touched, andthe courageous acts they inspired.NOW, THEREFORE, I, Ron Alcock, Mayor of the City of Geneva, New York issue this proclamation tomemorialize the innocent people who perished in the terrorist attacks on September 11, 2001.
