On September 2nd at approximately 5:02 pm the Penn Yan Police Department arrested Devon R. Pierce, age 23 of 110 Wagner Street Apartment D in Penn Yan, for Criminal Possession of Stolen Property 5th Degree and Aggravated Unlicensed Operation 2nd Degree.The arrest stems from officers observing Pierce operate a vehicle in the village on a suspended license. After officers stopped Pierce on East Elm Street a check of his license revealed a total of nine suspensions, 7 on 5 different dates. A female passenger in the vehicle did consent to having officers search the vehicle, where officers found several stolen items in the rear of the SUV, which were allegedly taken from a residence in the Town of Torrey.After a lengthy investigation, Pierce did admit that he and other individuals stole several items to include tools valued at several thousand dollars. Pierce admitted that the group stole the items to sell at pawn shops so that they had money to purchase narcotics and synthetic marijuana.Pierce was arraigned in the Village of Penn Yan Court and was remanded to the Yates County Jail on $2500 bail $5000 bond.
