ROC man arrested in PY after traffic stop

On Saturday August 22nd at approximately 6:37 pm the Penn Yan Police Department arrested Alexander F. Green, age 30 residing in Rochester, after being observed to be using a cell phone while driving on Lake Street in Penn Yan.After a traffic stop was initiated Green was subsequently found to have a suspended license for failing to pay NYS taxes and to also have a Felony Warrant from the state of Oregon. Green was transported to the Penn Yan Police Department for processing where he was found to be in possession of a controlled substance. Green was charged with Aggravated Unlicensed Operation 3rd, Using a Cell Phone While Driving, and Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance 7th.Green was arraigned in the Village of Penn Yan Court and remanded to the Yates County Jail in lieu of $2500 cash $5000 bond. He is to reappear in the Village Court at a later date to answer the charges. Further investigation is pending and the Penn Yan Police Department is being assisted by the United States Federal Probation Department.
