The Seneca County Sheriff’s Office reports on Wednesday at approximately 5:32 pm Sheriff Deputies responded to State Route 89 in the Town of Covert for a two car personal injury accident.A 2013 Dodge Caravan being driven by Jennifer A. Gehl, age 47 of 191 Terry Hill Rd in Horseheads, was traveling Northbound on Route 89 when a 2003 Ford Focus being driven by Andrew S. Johndrew, age 18 of 6961 Route 89 in Ovid, traveling southbound, made a left turn in front of Gehl’s vehicle causing the accident. The two vehicles collided causing extensive damage to both.Johndrew was transported to Cayuga Medical Center by South Seneca Ambulance for a possible head injury. Passengers in the caravan, Sarah A. Gehl, age 18 and Samantha A. Gehl, age 17 and Caitlyn M. Gehl age 10 of Horseheads, were not injured.Johndrew was issued a ticket for failure to yield right of way making a left turn, and will appear in the Town of Covert to answer the charge.Also assisting at the scene was the Trumansburg Fire Dept. and Lodi Fire Dept.
