On Sunday at approximately 4 pm the Penn Yan Police Department arrested Edward T. VanValkenburg, age 58 of Penn Yan, for Open Container after being observed by Police with an open beer can at the Yates County Complex. While being interviewed by Police, VanValkenburg continued to consume the beer after being instructed to dump it out. He was charged under the Village of Penn Yan ordinance and will appear in the Village of Penn Yan Court on August 10.This was VanValkenburg’s second open container ticket in less than 24 hours.
