On Wednesday July 29th at approximately 2:56 pm the Penn Yan Police Department, the Penn Yan Fire Department, and the Penn Yan Ambulance were dispatched to the intersection of Clinton Street and Cornwell Street for a report of a vehicle driving into a house.Upon arrival it was seen that the driver, John Fenton, and the passenger, Jeremy Fenton, were out of the vehicle. It was found that the 1999 Ford F150 did strike the North West corner of 501 Clinton Street, owned by Bertha Havens, and caused severe damage to the building. Havens was home during the time of the incident and was uninjured.The investigation later revealed John Fenton had experienced a medical event which rendered him unconscious. John’s son Jeremy was able to gain partial control of the steering wheel and avoid oncoming traffic, but drove off of the road narrowly missing a tree and struck the residence.Jeremy suffered minor injuries and was transported to Soldiers and Sailors Hospital for evaluation. John was transported by Penn Yan Ambulance and Yates County Advanced Life Support to Soldiers and Sailors Hospital for evaluation and treatment.
