On Saturday, August 1, 2015, at 9:30 AM, New York Chiropractic College will hold commencement exercises in the Standard Process Health and Fitness Center. The 138 graduates will include 38 Doctors of Chiropractic (DC), 23 Master of Science in Acupuncture (MSA) or Master of Science in Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine (MSAOM) and 44 Applied Clinical Nutrition (MSACN). In addition there will be 32 graduates from the Master of Science in Human Anatomy & Physiology Instruction (MSHAPI), and one graduate from the Master of Science in Diagnostic Imaging program.The commencement address will be given by Kevin Patton, PhD, MS, a founding faculty member of NYCC’s Master of Science in Human Anatomy and Physiology Instruction program. He holds a PhD in Biology earned from Union institute and University in Cincinnati, Ohio, and a Master of Science in Environmental Studies/Science from Southern Illinois University. Dr. Patton is also a founding faculty member and Emeritus Faculty of St. Charles Community College where he established an Anatomy and Physiology program in 1987. He has authored a number of popular A&P textbooks and manuals, and is President Emeritus of the Human Anatomy and Physiology Society (HAPS) which he founded. Patton is publisher of a number of blogs and web sites related to teaching and learning and is president, consultant and writer for Lion Den, Inc. He has served as adjunct assistant professor of physiology at St. Louis University Medical School, adjunct assistant professor of biology at St. Louis University and professor of biology at St. Mary’s College in Missouri. Among his many accolades are the Missouri Governor’s Award for Excellence in Teaching, the Phi Theta Kappa Mentor Award for exemplary leadership and guidance of students, the Albert Shaker Award for Excellence in Education in Missouri, and the American Federation of Aviculture Research Award.Also addressing the graduates will be Associate Professor Darlene Easton, LAc, MSAOM, of NYCC’s Finger Lakes School of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine, and Bryan Kent, Executive President of the Student Government Association. Grand Marshall for the event will be Professor David Aberant.
