The Seneca County Sheriff’s Office reports that on Saturday at approximately 3:00 pm Sheriff Deputies responded to the intersection of State Route 89 and Cayuga View in the Town of Covert for a two car personal injury accident. A 2011 Honda CRV being driven by Brian W Gates, age 32 of 7300 Donovan Road in Auburn, was traveling southbound on Route 89 when a 2011 Toyota Rav 4 being driven by John R Pavia Jr, age 83 of 4971 Fontenac Road in Trumansburg, entered the roadway from Cayuga View Road, failing to yield the right of way to Gates. The two vehicles collided causing extensive damage to both. Pavia was transported to Cayuga Medical Center by South Seneca Ambulance for a possible shoulder injury. Passengers in the Honda, Jamie L Castellano-Gates, age 30, and Delia M Gates, age 2, both of 7300 Donovan Road in Auburn, were transported to Cayuga Medical Center by Trumansburg Ambulance for possible injuries. Pavia was issued a utt for failure to yield right of way. Also assisting at the scene was the Trumansburg Fire Dept.
