The Auburn Players are gearing up for their 12th Annual Summer Youth Theatre production! This summer young actors, dancers and singers are invited to take part in Stephen Sondheim’s “Into the Woods, Jr.”Auditions are being held on Sunday, June 14th at 1:00 pm for ages 10 to 14, and 3:00 pm for ages 15 and up. Both auditions will be held at Willard Memorial Chapel, 17 Nelson Street in Auburn.The Auburn Players started the Summer Youth Theatre 12 years ago under the direction of Elisa Carabajal Hunt to give local young performers a chance to participate in a musical theater production and learn the craft. “We are reinvesting in our community by teaching our youth the value and artistry that it takes to create the magic of theater,” says Hunt.The Summer Youth Theater program is open to ages 10 to 19. Everyone interested in joining the cast will be asked to sing and dance during auditions. “We bring them through the entire process, starting with an open audition and ending with the final performance,” says Auburn Players president Lindsay Day, “They learn what a stage production is really like.” To audition, you must prepare a short song and monologue. There is no fee to audition for “Into the Woods, Jr.” Individuals cast in the show will be asked to pay a $25 Participation fee. No one will be turned away for inability to pay. The fee includes a show T-shirt, a script, and rehearsal CD. Performance dates are August 14 – 16, 2015, and rehearsals will run throughout July and August.
