On Wednesday just before midnight, Penn Yan Village Police arrested Jacob Helton, age 31 of Penn Yan, after an investigation into a shoplifting complaint by a local business. Helton was found to have stolen a quantity of alcohol from the business after passing all points of sale without paying.Penn Yan police were assisted by a Yates County Sheriff’s Deputy in finding Helton who was located at a residence on Old Bath Road and. Helton was subsequently arrested and charged by the Sheriff’s Department with DWI. After being released, he was arrested by Penn Yan Police and charged with petit larceny.Helton will appear in Penn Yan Village Court at a later date.
