Landfill offers Saturday Morning tours

Seneca Meadows, Inc. announced today that it will be offering free tours of its landfill, gas-to-energy facility, and wetlands preserve every Saturday from June through September, (except for holiday weekends). The tours offer families an opportunity to view the construction of the protective landfill liner, to see the heavy equipment in action, to meet the live falcons that work at the site, to see the engine-generators that produce electricity, and to take a short walk on the trails at the wetlands preserve.“We met some wonderful people from our community at these tours last summer,” said community relations director, Mark Benjamin. “They had great questions, and took much interest in the state-of-the-art technology that protects our environment. We so appreciate it when our neighbors take time out of their busy schedules to visit.”Tours start at the Seneca Meadows Education Center, located across from the landfill on State Route 414, and begin at 11:00 am. Tours last 1 hour. Although walk-ins are welcome, space is limited, so residents are encouraged to make a reservation by calling 315-539-5624.
