On Sunday at 1:00 pm, Penn Yan police arrested 23-year-old Shamar J. Lewis of Brooklyn, NY and charged him with Forgery in the 2nd degree, Criminal Possession of a Forged Instrument in the 2nd degree, and Conspiracy in the 5th degree.Lewis is accused of forging checks and then passing them in Penn Yan.Lewis was being held on Rikers Island for other charges where police picked him up and transported him back to Penn Yan where he was arraigned and remanded to the Yates County Jail in lieu of $25,000 cash or $50,000 bond.
