Seneca Falls ArtWalk2015 set for Saturday

ArtWalk2015 begins this year on Friday evening from 5 to 9 PM and continues Saturday May 16 from 10 to 4 PM. Whimsically painted & decorated shoes will guide visitors through the art exhibits hosted by local businesses. There will be artist’s receptions, demonstrations, and musicians performing at several venues in the historic downtown business district. The event is sponsored by the Seneca Falls Business Association and the Seneca County Arts Council.Among the venues showing artworks is the newly opened R. Dixon Gallery, which will feature “Wall Candy,” a show of abstract paintings by owner Roberta Dixon Estes. Eleven Lakes Winery will be there to do a wine tasting Friday, 5 – 7 during their grand opening party.Women’s Rights National Historical Park’ will display the Dream Rocket Project that consists of 60 artworks made from textile/fiber based materials which have been created collaboratively by 341 students from across the country.Knitting enthusiasts are warmly invited to stop in at the Grand Opening party at Heart Felt creations to learn a few knitting techniques. Artist Roberta Nelson will demonstrate the making of watercolor jewelry at the Seneca County Art Council’s Art Works Gallery, where visitors can also see works by People’s Choice Winner Anne Lahr and other member artists. More artist demonstrations can be seen with Lynn Patti at New Beginnings, and with Anne Rutz and Bev Lombardo at Jessica’s Salon, each showing their painting techniques.The Gould Hotel, which will display work by local artists Tom Hussey and Jill Meyers, is holding an open house on Friday night featuring wine and beer tastings and music by Dave McGrath. Other musicians playing on Friday evening include singer-songwriter Amy Babiarz, at WomanMade Products, and guitarist Gerry Ortego at the Arts Works Gallery. Ortego will return to play Saturday, on Fall Street.The following artists will display their work on Friday and Saturday: Tom Hussey, Jill Meyers, Roberta Dixon Estes, Susaan Hettrich Makoczy, Sylvia Papperman, Anne Lahr, Kim Bumpus, Anne Rutz, Bev Lombardo, Joanne Benson, Lisa Johnson, Diane Noble, Alaina Palmer, Bob Brown, Candy Lucas, Linda Solan, Kathy Excell, Pat Henly, Deborah Bly, Lynn Patti, and Roberta Nelson. Venues, in addition to the ones previously mentioned, include Home Necessities, Rose Francis Dress Shop, National Women’s Hall of Fame, Fat Boys Restaurant, Sinicropi Florist, Downtown Deli, Seneca Office Products, Sherry’s Bear and Frame, Laurie’s Lil’ Popcorn Shoppe, and the Seneca Falls Visitor’s Center & Museum of Waterways and Industry.A map to the art displays and events is available at all participating businesses.More information can be seen online at www.senecafalls.com.
