A barn fire was reported by a passerby in Dundee on Monday evening at about 11:03 pm at the farm of James Z. Eberly at 5606 Route 14A according to the Yates County Sheriff’s Department.37 milking cows, 15 smaller cows, and 3 horses were killed in the blaze. The barn was destroyed and the Yates County fire investigators could not immediately determine the cause of the blaze but would not rule out the possibility of a problem with an electrical motor.The Dundee Fire Company responded along with Himrod, Montour Falls, Penn Yan and Tyrone. The Wayne Fire Department stood by at the Dundee Firehouse.
