Geneva Theatre Guild presents “Match”

The Geneva Theatre Guild’s production of “Match” by Stephen Belber will open at “The Pat”, the Pat Collins Black Box Theatre in the Geneva Community Center May 7, 2015.“This play has humor and this play has anger and these three actors deliver such raw emotions sometimes that it is difficult for me to even breath during rehearsals,” said director, Larry Ann Evans. “I also get to direct three very talented actors. Aaron Lancastle who I’ve acted with before, Kathryn Snyder who I’ve produced plays with before and Steve Duprey, who is usually directing me!” Belber’s Tony nominated play “Match” centers on the story of Tobi Powell, played by Steve Duprey, who has settled into cozy domestic solitude after a globe-spanning career as a dancer. Tobi barely knows what to do with himself when a grad student named Lisa (Kathryn Snyder) and her husband, Mike (Aaron Landcastle), come to interview him about his early days. Flustered by the attention and his efforts to be a charming host, Tobi realizes too late that Lisa isn’t his actual interviewer. Each of the characters in this play have a vested interest in each other and it soon becomes obvious that no one in the play can truly leave the others until his or her needs are met.“Match has adult themes and language and is rated M for mature audiences. “Match” will be shown at “The Pat”, The Pat Collins Black Box Theatre May 7-9 at 8:30 pm and May 10 at 2 pm. Tickets are $12 general and $10 senior and are available at Area Records in Geneva and online at gtglive.org and at the door.
