Seneca County Sheriff’s Office reports that on Saturday at 1:38 pm Sheriff’s Deputies responded to 1110 Waterloo Geneva Rd in Waterloo for a structure fire. When Deputies arrived at the scene a resident of the home, Alex J. Laquitara age 23, was outside along with his dog. Two other dogs were in the home when fire fighters arrived on scene. Both dogs were removed from the home by Waterloo Fire fighters. One of the dogs was deceased and the other was treated at the scene by fire fighters and EMT’s from North Seneca Ambulance. The fire was knocked down by the fire fighters in about fifteen minutes. The owner of the home is William P. Laquitara, age 29 of the same address, and was out of town at the time of the fire. Deputies report that the home is insured . The cause of the fire is still under investigation. The Waterloo Fire Dept. was assisted at the scene by Seneca Falls Fire Dept. Border City Fire Dept, and the Fayette Fire Dept. North Seneca was also on scene.
