FLX Young Professionals donate to Trevor’s Gift

Members of Finger Lakes Young Professionals this week presented checks totaling more than $2,900 to Trevor’s Gift following their successful Gourmet Wine Dinner. The annual five-course charity gourmet dinner with wine pairings is prepared by Chef John McNabb at Knapp’s Winery with wine from Knapp Winery, Three Brothers Winery & Estates and Ventosa Vineyards.Trevor’s Gift co-chair Doris Wolf thanked the group for their generous gift. “What a wonderful group of caring young people! Their gift will feed 15 hungry children for a whole year. We are extremely grateful. It is reassuring to know that the next generation of professionals have such a giving spirit.”Trevor’s Gift volunteers put bags of food in the backpacks of 145 hungry children each Friday for over the weekends when they don’t have access to school cafeterias. When kids have access to food over the weekends, they are better able to concentrate on their schoolwork, are healthier and have better school attendance. Studies show that 10.6 percent of the kids in Seneca County are nutritionally needy, meaning they don’t know when – or if- they will receive their next meal. Trevor’s Gift relies on the contributions of individuals, businesses and organizations to support its $30,000 annual budget. It receives no government funding. All money donated is used to buy food for nutritionally needy children in Waterloo.
