The Seneca County Sheriff’s office reports that on Monday at 11:49 pm, Seneca County Deputies responded to State Route 96 near Schier Road in the Town of Covert for the report of a one car personal injury accident.Mullen was traveling southbound on State Route 96 when he swerved to miss a deer and went off the east side of the road. The vehicle then hit a road sign, went down an embankment and struck a tree.Upon arrival it was found that Steven E Mullen, age 50 of 42 State Route 38 in Richford, was trapped in his truck. Interlaken and Trumansburg Fire department extricated Mullen from the vehicle and he was airlifted by Life Net to Robert Packer Hospital in Sayre, PA.Deputies report that Mullen suffered a broken leg and possible internal injuries and is listed in critical condition at this time. Trumansburg ambulance also assisted on the scene.
