The 2015 area high school lacrosse season got underway over the weekend and will kick into full swing with a full slate of games this week.Independent Penn Yan took down Geneva by a score of 14-3 behind 5 goals from Ben Covert and 3 goals and 2 assists from Sean Emerson. Penn Yan faces Carthage on Saturday while the Panthers kick off their league schedule at Newark on Thursday.Penn Yan fields a young team this season with 3 eight graders on the roster along with 5 other underclassmen. They also have experience in Ben Covert, Austin Fingar and Sean Emerson.In other action involving Finger Lakes teams, Wayne dropped to 2-0 on Friday after getting manhandled by Honeoye Falls-Lima 10-3.
