70 MPH leads to Felony DWI arrest in Seneca Falls

This morning at approximately 1:54 am the Seneca Falls Police arrested Paras Kumar, age 36 of 19 Barry Drive in Westbury, NY for Felony DWI. Kumar was stopped by police on East Bayard Street Ext after officers allegedly observed a vehicle being driven by Kumar traveling at 70 MPH in a posted 35 MPH Speed Zone. While officers spoke with Kumar at the traffic stop, officers could smell an odor of an alcoholic beverage coming from him. Officers then administered field sobriety tests which allegedly Kumar failed. At the completion of the investigation, officers learned that Kumar had a prior DWI conviction in July 2005 out of Nassau County. Kumar was placed under arrest for Felony DWI and was transported back to the police station where he gave a breath blood alcohol reading of 0.15%. Kumar was issued UTT’s for Speed in Zone, Failure to submit to Pre-Screen, Felony DWI and Felony operating a motor vehicle with BAC greater than .08%. Kumar was released and has to appear at the Town of Seneca Falls Court on April 13 at 6:00 pm.
