On Friday, March 20, the Downtown Ithaca Alliance and the City of Ithaca will welcome four new and expanded businesses to the Commons and Cayuga Street. At 4:15 PM, there will be a ribbon cutting for Center Haircutters (171 The Commons, Center Ithaca mezzanine). Center Haircutters is a newly revitalized barbershop in the heart of downtown focused on providing affordable haircuts for any and all kinds of folks. Says proprietor Jordan Matthews, “With the completion of the Commons construction, downtown Ithaca will be teeming with activity and shoppers will be greeted by a freshly renovated barbershop.” At 4:30 PM, there will be a ribbon cutting for Lena Gadgets (101 South Cayuga Street). Lena Gadgets is a locally owned cell phone repair and service shop that also boasts an ample selection of accessories like cases, chargers, and headsets. Says proprietor Abdel Hamid, “We chose our downtown location because we are a people-oriented staff that is committed not only to servicing the community but getting to know them.” At 4:45 PM, there will be a ribbon cutting for Pastrick’s Sports & Trophies (103 South Cayuga Street). Pastrick’s specializes in custom screen printing, embroidering, and engraving for businesses, schools, and events. Says proprietor Kevin Hogan, “I chose to branch out from Elmira because of the lack of a trophy shop in the Ithaca area, and I picked the Cayuga Street storefront to be in the heart of the city.” At 5:00 PM, there will be a ribbon cutting for the Art and Found (112 North Cayuga Street). The Art and Found, sells sustainable clothing, fair-trade and locally-made products, and vintage fashions. Says proprietor Olivia Royale, “I’m excited about this next phase of business that promotes fashion sustainability and local vendors. I invited everyone to follow us to our new home, which we feel is more appropriate for our mission.” All of Downtown Ithaca’s ribbon cuttings are free and open to the public and members of the press.
